NOTICE: Expect delays on the road approaching Togue Pond Gate
Maine’s DOT is repaving the section of the road between the Golden Road Crossing and Baxter Park’s southern entrance. Work is expected to be completed by the end of Monday, August 10th.

The Tote Road is re-opened to thru traffic today (7/1)
Motorist may experience short delays between Katahdin Stream and Foster field, and should use caution in the recent construction area as the road shoulders remain soft.
There are two successive bridge closures on the Chimney Pond Trail
Hikers should cross the stream using the short re-routes across the stream beds that are marked with blue flagging.
Hunt (AT) Trail bypass: as of 6/8/2026, the bridge at Katahdin Stream Falls is closed for replacment
Hunt/AT trail hikers should utilize a bypass trail that begins at the Katahdin Stream Ranger Station, and follow the blue flagging that marks the bypass.
The Hunt and Abol Trails on Katahdin are open to Baxter Peak, and Traveler Ridge trails are open; the Chimney Pond Trail is open to Chimney Pond only; all other trail on Katahdin remain closed until further notice
