Roaring Brook Road suffered significant damage over the winter, and will be delayed in opening this spring. The Park’s headquarters building in Millinocket, including the reservations office, will be closed to the public from April 29 to May 10th for training events. Reservations may still be made online and by phone during these two weeks.

On March 19th, our Park Headquarters in Millinocket is hosting a training with the Maine Forest Service, which will lead to limited parking in our visitor parking area. However, our reservations office is still open, and visitors can park in nearby locations to access the office.

On the afternoon of April 8, a total solar eclipse will pass through the Katahdin region of Maine. This event is a rare and special occasion for our state. Snowmobiling is now closed in Baxter State Park. The Park has closed the Main Entrance Gates at Togue Pond Gatehouse, Matagamon Gatehouse, and the Logan Brook Road gate.

Yesterday’s storm brought enough snow that the Park’s Tote Road is now accessible by snowmobile. PLEASE REMEMBER: The Tote Road is the only place in the park where snowmobiles are allowed.
