NOTICE OF CLOSURE
The Park’s reservation office and phone lines will be closed on Tuesday, 10/20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for training events. Thank you for your understanding. Services will resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, 10/21.
As of October 13, all Katahdin and Traveler Ridge trails are closed for the season
The Chimney Pond Trail to Chimney Pond Campground remains open for campers only until October 15. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in protecting the alpine ecosystems and trails on these mountains.
NOTICE: Expect delays on the road approaching Togue Pond Gate
Maine’s DOT is repaving the section of the road between the Golden Road Crossing and Baxter Park’s southern entrance. Work is expected to be completed by the end of Monday, August 10th.
The Tote Road is re-opened to thru traffic today (7/1)
Motorist may experience short delays between Katahdin Stream and Foster field, and should use caution in the recent construction area as the road shoulders remain soft.
Tote Road Closure on 6/30
The Park Tote Road will be closed to through traffic between Katahdin Stream Campground and Daicey Pond on Tuesday, June 30th for road work. This closure is necessary to replace culverts and restore the streambed at a crossing near Tracy Pond. NOTICE OF TOTE ROAD CLOSURE
The Park Tote Road will be closed to thru-traffic between Katahdin Stream Campground and Foster Field on Tuesday, 6/30, beginning at 7 a.m. For additional information check our News alerts.
There is a bridge closed on the Chimney Pond Trail
Hikers should cross the stream using the short re-route across the stream bed that is marked with blue flagging.
Beginning 6/10, all Park trails are open for hiking
Hikers should be aware of spring conditions on some trails, including snow and downed trees.
Hunt (AT) Trail bypass: as of 6/8/2026, the bridge at Katahdin Stream Falls is closed for replacment
Hunt/AT trail hikers should utilize a bypass trail that begins at the Katahdin Stream Ranger Station, and follow the blue flagging that marks the bypass.
