The Park Tote Road will be closed to through traffic between Katahdin Stream Campground and Daicey Pond on Tuesday, June 30th for road work. The Park Tote Road will be closed to thru-traffic between Katahdin Stream Campground and Foster Field on Tuesday, 6/30, beginning at 7 a.m. For additional information check our News alerts.
Hikers should cross the stream using the short re-routes across the stream beds that are marked with blue flagging.
Hikers should be aware of spring conditions on some trails, including snow and downed trees.
Hunt/AT trail hikers should utilize a bypass trail that begins at the Katahdin Stream Ranger Station, and follow the blue flagging that marks the bypass.
The Baxter State Park Headquarters in Millinocket will be closed to the public from 5/04 – 5/14 for a training event. The reservations phone line will still be open during this time.
No camping is permitted in the Park until the summer camping season begins on 5/15. Camping is permitted in BSP by reservation only.
Please monitor our Today’s Condition’s page for updates (high elevation trails usually open late May/early June). Trail closures protect the sensitive alpine environment during freeze-thaw cycles.
