Park gates are closed to vehicular traffic for the season

TRAIL CLOSURE: All Katahdin and Traveler Loop Trails are closed for the season.
Snow and freezing rain have fallen at high elevations on unfrozen ground. These create conditions that are impactful to the alpine habitat and trails, and also may be hazardous for unprepared hikers.
Plan ahead for a heat wave this week
The National Weather Service is forecasting a heat wave this week, starting Tuesday. Please adjust you plans in the Park accordingly, as strenuous hiking in these conditions can be dangerous.
