Following the recent heavy winds and rain, the mountain lost a lot of its early season snow.
Waterbodies are not fully frozen over.
Portions of the Appalachian Trail in the southern end of the Park (including the AT kiosk area at Abol Bridge) are flooded due to water being released from a dam upstream on the West Branch of the Penobscot River.
Our Katahdin and traveler loop trails remain closed at the trailhead until further notice.
Visitors can expect some road and trail washouts, blowdown trees, and wet (or sometimes snowy/icy) trails. Please check back for updated conditions, and change your plans accordingly if necessary. We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe experience when visiting the Park!
